Test the pH of Water

Materials:

  • Red cabbage
  • Hot water
  • Clear cups
  • Lemon juice, baking soda, tap water

Steps:

  1. Pat says, "Chop that cabbage like a science chef!"
  2. Soak it in hot water and watch the magic brew.
  3. Strain the purple juice and pour into clear cups.
  4. Add a spoon of lemon juice in one—Whoa! Pink fizz!
  5. Try baking soda next—Boom, blue burst!
  6. You've just revealed acids and bases, like a true Bat-chemist!

Build a Mini Water Filter

Materials:

  • Plastic bottle
  • Sand, gravel, cotton
  • Dirty water (from soil)

Steps:

  1. Snip off the top of the bottle like a pro scientist.
  2. Layer in cotton, sand, and gravel. Pat-approved filtration!
  3. Pour in murky water and watch the magic flow.
  4. "Not drinkable yet!" warns Pat, but great for learning!
